Hi all,
I successfully installed 5.2 Update4 from CD on a 7028-6C4 last week. After experiencing some network problems I decided that an upgrade to 10 would be the way to go.
All patches were downloaded and installed successfully, but required that I reboot the box. After rebooting the machine hung before even getting to the SMS prompts on E170.
Attaching a serial console I found what appears to be a dump of registers, some memory and a message about stack reading 0xdeadbeef.
Apparently this is a "known problem" that requires a firmware patch. It has something to do with the kernel now being larger than 12Meg.
My first question is "where do I go from here?" and (more out of morbid curiosity than anything else) "why is an upgrade that renders ones system inoperable allowed to install?".
Again, I can't get to the SMS menu to select a different boot device. I can only get to the service processor.
Regards,
John
