its pretty much the same as installing linux on any other system (i.e. intel) .. grab a decent ppc distro (sles9 or rhel4) and boot from the first cd .. if you have the p520 attached to a hmc, then you can do all of it from there using a vterm .. you may want to set the lpar profile to boot into sms so you can select the cd as the boot device .. from then on in its pretty intuitive ..

No, i don't have a HMC and the difficulty is that i don't have a graphic card so i have to use the screen of another Windows machine to connect to it by Hyperteminal with a 9-points cable. But each time that I want to install something, i never see what i'am waiting for when i hear the beeps!

You can for example run Fedora 5 or Debian if you want a free Linux.
Also note that if you have the APV (VirtualiZation Feature) then you can now install the Integrated Virtualisation manager - this is HMC style multiple LPARs but with out the cost and complexity of a HMC. The HMC "stuff" runs on the first LPAR which is also the VIO Server. Then you can run mulitple AIX copies AND Linux at the same time. You need to install the VIO Server version 1.2 as the first OS and then install AIX + Linux as VIO Server client OS's.
