Hi,
I would like to share my experience.
One of the organization where i worked, they used Anywhere 761 with VPN apps in mobile. It worked well with better reliability and they were using that setup for other customer apps also for quite sometime. Though it was MDMs team responsibility, little bit of coordination was required to get the apps signed properly and to get it published.
One observation/learning we had was, VPN apps needs to be launched and connected before launching Anywhere app. If we connect VPN app post launching Anywhere app, Anywhere apps wasnt able to connect to Maximo. This may vary from scenario to scenario, VPN app to app but that was the case with the setup we had and addressed it as part of user training.

Subject: Lessons learned: Connecting to Maximo via VPN
MAM 7.6.1.2; Anywhere 7.6.4:
My organization in the process of changing how Maximo will be accessed in the field. We had originally planned to expose our Maximo implementation externally. But a decision has been made, for security reasons, to go internal-only and use a VPN.
This will apply to:
- Maximo Desktop on Microsoft Surfaces (tethered to cell phones)
- Maximo Desktop on Android tablets (SIM card)
- Anywhere Work Technician on Android tablets (SIM card)
The decision has already been made and is outside my area of responsibility. So it's not my intent to debate externally exposed vs internal/VPN.
But I would like to ask:
Does anyone have any tips or lessons learned that you can share - when it comes to using a VPN to access Maximo?
Thank you.
