Question:

Can the status of a labor assignment be changed via Anywhere WT?
I don't see an option to change a labor assignment to complete in Anywhere:

Hi User1971 - Yes always interested in topics that have been long lost in the memory cells. There is a feature in Assignment Manager - Set Preferences - Set Parameter Preferences which shows as a radio button without any title that sets the work order to Complete or Close when the last assignment is set to COMPLETE. Assignments marked as Complete is really something that you do in dispatching mode. Think of a hospital portering assignment, the porter delivers the patient to the theatre and calls in for their next job so you finish the assignment and likely in this scenario you would close the associated request (work order).

Does finishing an assignment makes sense, when it is not a dispatching process, i.e. the assignment was planned? Probably not, as in this case the completion would be driven from the task or work order completion.

If there were multiple planned assignments to the task and the last assignment was completed and this was the last task on a work order then I think most clients would want the task or work order completed as this saves a step.

Work Order Completion does not mean that all aspects of the job is complete, it just means that the work performed against the assignments are complete. It would stop the clock if you had an SLA applied, the service you are providing has been restored, downtime would also stop at this point, if not before.

Think of the feedback loop from the technician or engineer who has been to site. They may feed back that an update to some documentation or drawings are needed. The Supervisor reviews the log notes at COMP status and sees this and creates a new task (in Actuals tab) and assigns it, an office based job. So COMP does not mean all tasks are complete.

The thing is Maximo has to be flexible because it is used by so many clients around the world, what makes sense to you, may not make sense to another. The RFE is warranted because it adds to the flexibility, but it needs to get enough votes. My view is create an extra synonym status at COMP to determine between job complete, and Reviewed and Ready to be closed. Hence, I could not see a need to vote for the RFE.

1. Maximo Desktop: We can change a labor assignment to COMPLETE, even if it's WO/task isn't complete.
2. Anywhere: We can't manually change a labor assignment to COMPLETE. There is no functionality in Anywhere WT for changing the status of a labor assignment.
   • When the labor assignment's WO/task is changed to complete, Maximo will automatically change the labor assignment to complete.
