  • 1.  Is there a replacement for the Inventory Reports which updated the database in MAS?

    In Maximo 7.6.1.2 there were several Inventory reports which updated the database. One was ABC Analysis which updated the ABC Type and the Cycle Count Frequency. With the upgrade to BIRT 4.8 these have been dropped. A question for the IBM people on this channel, what is the alternative, and if there is no alternative what are the plans for reinstating this using a different method?

    Update feature is removed from inventory analysis reports 

    Effective with Manage 8.3, the Update button is removed from the following inventory analysis reports:
    • Inventory ABC Analysis
    • Inventory EOQ Analysis
    • Inventory ROP Analysis
    • Inventory ABC Transaction Date Analysis
    • Inventory EOQ Transaction Date Analysis
    • Inventory ROP Transaction Date Analysis

    Hi Andrew, this feature has been removed as it posed a security vulnerability. The recommended alternative is the MRO Inventory Optimization solution.

    Thanks Martin, I received the same answer from IBM Support. The ability to update these three Inventory fields from a report has been in the product since at least Maximo 3.0a, I checked the manual this morning, so it has been a nice feature in the product for at least 27 years.

    Anyone looking to upgrade to MAS (or 7613) should take note.

    Incidentally, I think it should be achieved in the same way as Inventory Reorder routine with a preview button.

    As for MRO Inventory IO, it may be the best thing since sliced bread, but until IBM Business Partners can lay their hands on it, it is unlikely to get traction outside of US. I would love to write articles for it in Maximo Secrets.
