    Hi Ladies,

With only 23% of women in AI, our voices are essential to shaping a more inclusive and impactful future. I'm so excited to be part of this group and thought I'd kick off the introductions!

I'm Noor Aftab, a data scientist currently working at Amazon S3. I lead strategic customer engagements, focusing on AI automations, pipelines, and products that power innovation. One of my favorite projects was designing and scaling a data lake solution to handle over 70,000 daily video content queries, enabling insights that improved user engagement and operational efficiency.

Beyond Amazon, I'm passionate about mentoring aspiring data scientists and building thriving AI communities. As a thought leader and content creator, I share insights and lessons to inspire others to explore the incredible world of AI.

A personal highlight for me was attending the Amazon ML Conference, where I got to meet Andrew Ng-a moment that reminded me how far AI has come and how much further we can go when diverse voices are at the table.

On the home front, I'm a proud mother of twin girls, and we love hiking together in the beautiful trails around Seattle.

What excites you most about AI, and how can we work together to amplify women's voices in this space? I'd love to hear your stories! 😊

Noor, your journey is proof that women in AI aren't just part of the conversation. We are leading, shaping, and expanding what's possible. AI is that section of technology where creators show up, we bring new ideas, new solutions, and new innovations that change the game. The future of AI is diverse, bold, and limitless. I'm all in for amplifying these voices. Thank you for sharing your story.

Hi WIA! Adding to the introductions, I'm Thalia (Tuh-lee-ya), a UX Design Researcher as part of the AI on IBM Z Design team. In other words, I listen to our customer's needs, observe how they use AI and co-create the user experience of IBM's AI products, such as MLz, Machine Learning for IBM z/OS. This involves continuous user research studies to share insights with my product team (PM, Dev, UX design etc) on how to improve our UI, adjust our AI business strategy and deliver value to our clients.

What makes MLz unique is that it's native to z/OS and allows Data Scientists, AI Engineers, or Z-users to monitor their AI deployments for Trustworthy AI metrics like AI explainability and drift detection. Did I mention that my AI design team behind all this, happens to be mostly women from different backgrounds? This is practically unheard of in the AI industry, which is why I'm thankful for this group.

Outside of IBM, I'm an artist who makes digital illustrations for entry-level AI education to the public (on Linkedin) and have my own art studio at home when I want to make charcoal drawings or mixed media artworks. Otherwise, I'm off-grid camping at a National Park with my husband. We recently moved to Colorado to be more immersed in nature.

I look forward to getting to know you all! If you're interested in learning more about MLz or being a research participant, please reach out to me directly. Thanks!
