  • 1.  Installing DOORS Next

    Posted 28 days ago

I have been trying to install DOORS Next on a stand-alone computer. I guess, I managed to install the required packages. During setup, I consulted page "Running the setup by using Express setup in the setup wizard", where they say:

    Procedure

      1. Point your Web browser to the following address: https://[fully qualified hostname]:9443/jts/setup.
      2. Type ADMIN (case-sensitive) in both the User ID and Password fields. Click Log In.
      3. etc.

What is this [fully qualified hostname]? I tried the output given by the command hostname, but it was not accepted.

    Hello,

As is a test environment, you can go to https://localhost:9443/jts/setup

Later, during the first steps of the setup, it will ask you about your URI, you can have the same "https://localhost:9443/jts", but this is not recommended for productive environments.

    Regards!

You can also use a local hosts file entry effectively using a name other than localhost but the outcome is effectively the same as the solution Juan has proposed.  This will let you replace 'localhost' with a more logical name.   This is at it's core a DNS resolution issue and not product replated.  The only advantage of this is if you wanted to move this to a machine in your environment you could could set it up with doors.mycompany.com as the hosts file entry.  If you ever moved this then you can create doors.mycompany.com in DNS and it will just work.  I normally create dev environments on a virtual machine running locally for this reason.  That way all I need to do is move the entire VM and its Job done!

Thanks Juan and Michael! This helped me over to next problem.

Running Jazz Team Server Setup ends up with an error at step Finalize Application; cf. the attached file. Obviously I have missed something, but what?
