IBM Storage Protect Server - support for Windows 2025 server?

  • 1.  IBM Storage Protect Server - support for Windows 2025 server?

    It has now been 4 months since ISP 8.1.27 Windows Server was released which supports which supports up to Windows 2022.

    When will 8.1.28 (or?) be released, and is this version capable of being installed on Windows Server 2025?

    I'm curious when they're going to rev the version of IBM Java that ships with ISP/TSM.   Security issues galore, and it's been going on for a very very long time.

    According to the IBM Storage User Group meeting I attended to just recently, ISP 8.2 is planned for release on December 5th. Both server and clients are updated.

    Storage Protect 8.2 has been release but windows 2025 server is not yet supported.

    Any news on when we will be able to deploy Storage Protect Server on Windows 2025 is needed and welcome.

    SP Client ( BA Client) support for Windows 2025 is announced in 8.1.26, Windows Exchange SE on Server 2025 is supported in 8.2. 

    SP Server on Windows Server 2025 is targeted for 1Q 2026. We have a key dependency on DB2 and are expecting support for the same in 1Q 2026.

    SP Client is already running Java 21.x so no updates were planned for SP Client / BA client. 

    We missed updating Java in SP server in our 8.2 / 4Q release and are targeting it for 1Q 2026 release.

    As discussed on the webinar yesterday, we have a dependancy on IBM DB2 and are working to get that resolved. Targeting 3Q 2026 release for SP Server running on Windows Server 2025.

    This is in works and expected to ship in 1Q 2026 release. Java versions in works are either Java 17 or Java 21.

    BA client support for Windows server 2025 was announced in 4Q 2025 with 8.2.0 release. 

    We did not go for 8.1.28 release, we moved to 8.2.0.

    So we have BA client support for server 2025.

    Does this include TDP for SQL and Exchange also on windows server 2025 with 8.2.0 ?.

    SQL Server can be protected also by using Spictera Unified Storage.

    Just mount it at any drive-letter/path, and let your SQL Server dump the database via this path.

    So; even if TDP4SQL natively not yet support SQL Server (or that some SQL Server types are not supported) one can still protect it natively.

    When will Redhat RHEL 10 be supported as Storage Protect Server OS??

    With Db2 version 12.1.4 the support for RHEL10 is available (since 5th March 2026).
