I am glad to join this wonderful forum. I need to find some technical informaitions about IBM server~

I have a AIX 5L running on IBM p650 server(with custom system), and we need it can take less than 5 minutes from power-off to everything functional, but we can't get it.

Could anyone help telling me some informations of any type of servers which can start up faster than p650 or other workarounds?

    Thx for your help~

We've sufficient UPS and emergency generator right in the room, but my superiors wants more safer.
So I am looking for is there more faster machine or feasible solution which can restart the server as soon as possible.

Note that there rootvg is on a SAN disk (IBM SVC with DS4800 boxes).
So moving rootvg from SCSI to SAN is one option...
An article about rootvg on SCSI vs. SAN is available here:
    http://tesch.dfw.ibm.com/aixtips/sanrootvg.html

I don't want to comment if and when it's good idea to move rootvg on SAN. However be aware that some SAN problems or unstable SAN can crash your system and sometimes prevent a good PD (no dump available etc.).
