  • 1.  IBM Download Director "Unable to launch the application" error.

    Posted Fri February 12, 2021 11:29 AM

    I get this error :-

com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Unable to load resource: https://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/vios/dldirector/dldirector.jar

I have reported this through IBM Support Cases

    https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/s/?language=en_US

They directed me to this email address.

    fcfeedbk

I was responded to and asked to supply lots of screen shots and detail which was a complete waste of time as they directed me to

    WW Software Key Support <WWSWKEYS>

These guys directed me to the global support page black hole.

I was wondering if anyone else has seen this error and what the solution is?

We go through a proxy server so I'm wondering if its the proxy thats blocking the download of the jar file.

    Many thanks,

    Steve

    • I just tried your link - and it fails with a JNI error - during execution. Not surprising, as I prefer to not use Download Director
    • My 'answer' is to use, if you can, `ftp -s ....` to login to fixcentral and fetch your (bulk) downloads.
    • Download Director implies you organization does not permit direct (AIX/VIOS) system access - in those cases I have used desktop applications such as `Mozilla Filezilla`. That should also work fine via a proxy.
    • Hope this helps!
    • p.s. better will be to use a 'Linux' desktop - as some filesets (noteably language filesets have two filesets but windows does not support upper/lower case file names (think of something such as:

    rsct.msg.EN_US.core.auditrm

    rsct.msg.en_US.core.auditrm
