  • 1.  IBM Datacap 9.1.9 Install Issues

    Posted Tue September 03, 2024 03:40 PM

Greetings, I had recently installed IBM Datacap Version 9.1.9 and I've been running into errors since installing. When I initially installed IBM Datacap I was able to get the encryption keys using the command prompt C:\Datacap\Taskmaster\dcskey.exe -e gnk.Once this was done I was able to get my keys and the dc_KTF.xml file appeared in the Taskmaster folder.

However, I faced an error after fully installing Datacap and the Web Client Site wasn't working as well as the tasks I had setup for them. The Web Client site just stopped displaying the web page and when attempting to fix it I would get errors like HTTP 500.19 - Internal Server Error. (See screenshots attached below). In an attempt to fix it everything broke and then I decided to do a fresh install all over again.

While doing the fresh restart and checking that I had all prerequisites met, I entered the same Command Prompt again to generate the encryption keys, but this time I get an alert saying, "Keys couldn't be exported. Access to the path 'C:\dc_KTF.xml' is denied." Just for context I'm following the instructions for Installing and Configuring on 1 machine. I'm an admin of my workstation and have full control, but now I'm being told that access is denied. I'm not sure what happened in order for this happen.

The only thing that does work is when I run command prompt in Administrator mode and I'm able to generate the keys but when looking inside the Datacap\Taskmaster folder the dc_KTF.xml file doesn't exist. Is this something I should be considered about if Datacap itself cannot find the file?

I've also tried navigating to C:\Users\AHeshimu\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\sid and moving the 5 keys that were created on that day to a different folder and still the same issue occurs when using command prompt.

Can anyone be of assistance and provide some advice on how I should resolve this or be able to figure out what happened to cause this error.

Update: I was able to resolve this issue on my own from using the 9.1.3 version as it contained instructions that helped me
