We are migrating from Cognos 10.1.1 to Cognos 11.0.9. There is one Cognos 11.0.9 instance existing and we are going to merge the Cognos 10.1.1 content into this existing Cognos 11.0.9 instance. This migration is done in three phases.
As a part of migrating the user's my folder's contents for phase 1 ( around 400 users ), first we export the entire content store 10.1.1 and import it into a Cognos 11.0.9 Sandbox environment. Then we create a export specification to migrate the My Folders contents of these 400 users and create a deployment archieve and then import it into existing Cognos 11.0.9 instance. Before go live we have to migrate the latest user's My folder contents into Cognos 11.0.9. For that we will be doing the Content store export from Cognos 10.1.1 and then import the content store in Cognos 11.0.9 sandbox.
During this time the deployment specification to migrate the User's Myfolder contents will be removed due to content store import.
Now my question is how to backup the deployment specification already and again restore it after we do a content store import. This will help us in redoing the whole exercise of creating deployment specification for those 400 users.
Your ideas and thoughts are welcome.
