I have a use case in my mind which I am not sure can be achieved by Watson IOT with Maximo. I believe there is not much development required in Maximo for this. Watson sends data in JSON format and Maximo processes the data using OOB MBOs.
Use Case is as follows:
There are so many clients around the world who use Maximo Purchase requisition and there few who are integrated with Catalogue Systems like Ariba for searching and selecting Items for Purchasing. But, What if this search of Items, material and Services are dynamic. A request is sent to Watson IOT during PR creation or after, and Watson analyses( not sure how) Maximo history Data for the particular Item. Watson then does a search over internet and provides users with various available Vendors who can provide the Item, Material or Services at better cost and quality. May be comparison of previous Orders too. User selects the Vendor, only if he is satisfied with the results, and Request for Quotation is created for the same in Maximo. Plus as soon as user selects the Vendor Watson sends an Email to the vendor for quotations. Vendors responds to Watson with Quotes and Watson sends the quotations to Maximo. User Selects the quotes, Approves the PR in Maximo and creates PO. Rest of the process can be Client specific.
This is just an use case which came to my mind and happy to get view on the same. But developing this in Maximo won't be difficult. Most of the processing of data has to be handled in Watson.
