How does sysdumpdev -e arrive at it's figure?

    I know I can just wait for a dump device too small error in errpt and then run a sysdumpdev -e and then extend the dump device lv. I'm thinking it would be good to be proactive without being daft and giving way too much space to the dump device.

    Thanks in advance, by the way I've googled this for a good hour and not found anything to answer this yet.
