We're in a scenario where we are given X amount of money in a single buckets to use on a variety of capital projects throughout the year. From a overall corporate perspective, we like having the single bucket so we can move money to projects as needed. BUT....from an IT standpoint we've never truly budgeted for specified capex projects much less tracked whether we were over budget. I'm curious as to how everyone is budgeting for projects annually or what would be the best practice.
