  • 1.  Hide Certain Work Orders under Related Work Orders

    Posted Wed September 11, 2024 06:34 PM

I have a security group which currently has data restrictions which can only view work orders under its own persongroup. However under the related records tab you can see related work orders which are work orders which are for other persongroups. You cannot go into these work orders but you can see that they exist. How do I set the data restriction under this security group so that related work orders from certain other persongroups do not show at all in the related work order list?

    Hi Alex,

I'm not 100% sure but I believe data restrictions are applicable to the sets which are opened directly rather than through relationships (like related objects).
In that case I would say you need to adjust the relationship condition and somehow blend in data restriction's criteria.

    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/global-data-restrictions

The Application field allows you to set a restriction for against an object or attribute but for a specific application.
If left unchecked the restriction will apply to anywhere the group member encounters that object/attribute.

I tried, and it really works. When I tried to set object as WORKORDER and application ASSET, then it didn't worked. I just created restriction for object WORKORDER, left application empty.

    Howdy,

I agree with Andrzej as I think the relationship to related record would need to be updated.

Something like this would work -

recordkey=:wonum and class=:woclass and siteid=:siteid and orgid=:orgid and relatedreckey IN (SELECT wonum FROM workorder WHERE wonum = relatedreckey and siteid=:siteid and persongroup=:persongroup)

    Hope this helps

I got it to work, thanks Darren & Andrzej!

I have an additional issue getting this to work for the "View Work Details" page on the Asset application. From what I can tell this is the "Viewwork_byasset" relationship under the "ViewWOPM" object with the "WORKVIEW" child object.  The persongroup attribute doesn't exist under the "WORKVIEW" object. Do I need to then create a "persongroup" attribute under the "WORKVIEW" object then update the "Viewwork_byasset" relationship? I feel like I may be missing something.

    Thanks,

    Alex
