  • 1.  Heritage DCM ver 7.4

    Posted Tue February 21, 2023 08:26 AM

I have a challenge with the old (Heritage) DCM after upgrading to lates PTF for Navigator and Group PTF.
Well, the Heritage Navigator is "disabled" but can easily done enabled. The new one is very good now.
But for the DCM that's another question.
Is that announced to be "disabled" as well? The new one is very nice but it is missing some parts.
    Is there anyone who knows?

    Dear Erik

    >>>> The new one is very nice but it is missing some parts. <<<<

It appears to me the new one is called DCM for i and there are two Technotes on it.  Perhaps, you may find what you see as missing from the new DCM for i in the Technote.

    New Digital Certificate Manager GUI
Digital Certificate Manager for i (DCM) - Frequently Asked Questions and Common Tasks

Please note the part on PTF :

    [QUOTE]
    Required PTFs

IBM i 7.4 - SI71936 is the primary DCM PTF however all PTFs from System TLS enhancements to the TLSv1.3 and TLSv1.2 protocols should also be applied to ensure a seamless user experience.

IBM i 7.3 - SI72421 is the primary DCM PTF however all PTFs from IBM i 7.3 System TLS support for Transport Layer Security version 1.3 (TLSv1.3) must also be applied to ensure a seamless user experience.

What parts do you find to be "missing"?  I found the new one to be much easier and more comprehensive.  I have also made use of Jesse G's tools here: https://github.com/ThePrez/DCM-tools

They may fill some gaps for you.

    Thank's

    >>>>  a sertificate copy/migrations for other use <<<<

If you go to one of the Technotes I provided earlier : Digital Certificate Manager for i (DCM) - Frequently Asked Questions and Common Tasks , you will see the first question in the Technote is this :  How do I backup/migrate/replicate my Digital Certificate Management for i (DCM) environment? with this URL :  https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6614285   It involves CL commands for the purpose, no DCM GUI involved.

    Look for DCM-tools

    Hi,

Is there a way to access the "Heritage DCM" even after we have the PTFs installed for the "New DCM" ?

I see in the doc "New Digital Certificate Manager GUI " , it mentions

To access this new GUI after applying the required PTFs, enter http://hostname:2001/dcm from your web browser.
    • The original GUI interface is still available.

If I try with http://ip_address:2001/QIBM/ICSS/Cert/Admin/qycucm1.ndm/main0 , it fails with an error "Forbiddden - you do not have permission to access this resource"

Any way to still access the "Heritage DCM" ?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Dear Thomas

It would be better if you decribe what you want to do with the old DCM and I or other members may point out how to use the new DM to achieve the same goal. I really like the new DCM as it is much faster than the old one (running in exactly the same LPAR.). I used the old one only a few times and hated it just for its dismal performance.
