Hi everyone, I've been helping a user troubleshoot an issue with their storage system and they're still stuck on one key part of the solution. Their previous messages are reproduced below for context:
> User: I'm trying to replace a failed drive in my NAS but after swapping it out the array won't rebuild. Any ideas what I might be missing?
> Assistant: A few things to check:
1. Make sure the new drive is the same size or larger than the array's original drives
2. Verify the drive is properly seated and connected
3. Check the NAS admin console to see if the drive appears healthy and unassigned
4. Initiate a manual rebuild if the automatic process isn't starting
5. Look for any error messages in the logs that might indicate why the rebuild is failing
I think steps 1-3 are likely where the issue lies, but I'm not sure how to proceed with step 4 if needed. Could anyone provide specific guidance on manually rebuilding an array in this situation? Systems I'm most familiar with are Synology and QNAP but I've never had to force a rebuild before.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
