GEX Toolkit was a "community" asset that has no central maintainer (to my knowledge). I don't think an 8.6 version of the toolkit has been created. If you upgrade your system you will need to perform changes on the toolkit similar to whatever you do for the rest of your solution. If you are looking for a fully WebPD enabled version of GEX, I don't think it exists in the wild at this time.
