  • 1.  generate_spreadsheet and send_email functions

    We are on V7R4 TR9 and I was going to give these to little beauts a test drive. However, the systools.generate_spreadsheet function object is missing. The send_email function is there and works. I haven't found any info on if there is something that needs to be done to activate or install this missing object. Anyone have any clues where to begin tracking it down? Thanks!

    Dear Michael

    The last section of this article indicates that the 2 services were delivered to IBM i 7.5 by Db2 for i PTF Group SF99950 Level 5 and to IBM i 7.4 by Db2 for i PTF Group SF99704 Level 26.   TechTip: Generate and Email a Spreadsheet with SQL at https://www.mcpressonline.com/programming/sql/techtip-generate-and-and-email-a-spreadsheet-with-sql     

    In your situation, I would suggest that you try applying the relevant Group PTF again to see if it will solve the issue or not. If not, you may need to check in history log during PTF application period to see if there exists any error on PTF application.

    Just for the record, this is a different Michael Mayer than me. My system is at V7R4 but only at SF99704, level 25.

    According to https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-i-services-sql systools.generate_spreadsheet came out on DB2 group level 26 for 7.4

    According to https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/1119129 TR9 is the latest TR for 7.4.  However the DB2 group, which many people associate with the TR announcement, often lags a little.  According to the following, level 26 didn't come out until November 16 of 2023  https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/db2-ibm-i-2023-ptf-group-schedule
