  • 1.  friendly "warning" for the deployment of syslog-ng-4.8.1-2

    We have experienced several system crashes (data storage interrupt) after deploying syslog-ng-4.8.1-2.ppc in both AIX 7.2 TL05 SP09 and 7.3 TL03 SP01. This was due to an incompatible socket option SO_TIMESTAMPNS.  IBM is currently working on a fix. The only known workaround is to avoid installing this rpm until it is fixed.

    Here an example to block installations: 

    /opt/freeware/etc/dnf/dnf.conf

    [main]
    exclude=syslog-ng

    When the APAR or ifix becomes available, I will share this within this community also.

    Update: APAR number IJ56814 is assigned to this problem
