  • 1.  Friedman test applied only to part of the sample

Hi everyone! I would like to analyse a set of related likert scale statements to determine whether they are equal or statistically significantly different. From my research, this is done through the Friedman test since they are not normally distributed. My question is, can I apply the Friedman test to only part of the sample (example: just females)? I was told the Mann Whitney can be used for this reason but the p-value given relates to whether there is difference between the groups whereas I need the p-value between the statements. Appreciate all your help, and sorry if my question is confusing, today is my second day of using spss :)

Hi. You can select a defined group (or even a sample of the active dataset) from the Data Editor menu:

Start with Data > Select Cases...

    then:

When you press Continue, that will paste and be executed (the data will pass and select the group you asked for).
