Thank you Marc! That is exactly what I was looking for. Report looks great now.
Thank you both for responding. I really appreciate it.

To freeze the heading on any list, in interactive and classic viewer, simply use the scrollable area height property found in the lists General properties. This freezes the headers without the user having to do anything . I wish this was available in crosstabs!
<<Vanishing screenshot was here>>
For crosstabs I believe Robert has the only out of the box solution - switching interactive viewer off.
@Robert Dostal the technique you describe about using table/text items is if the column/row headers are bigger than a screen size (and one of them must be otherwise there would be no need to freeze them). There isn't a way to synch the scroll of the table and the crosstab.
Edited to add...
I have submitted a Request for enhancement to add these scrollable properties to crosstabs. The more votes the more likely it is to get added so get voting! Link below.

Hi Greg,
the "run with full interactivity" property can be set on report level and is stored in the report specification. The user does not have to set that each time they execute a report. the frozen headings instead is a runtime setting which must be set each time the report gets executed.
Another workaround is to manually build the headings as table + text items and hide the actual ones in the list/crosstab and place the crosstab into a block with defined height/width and activated scroll bars. I can't upload screenshots at the moment to show you what I mean...

Robert - thanks for the reply! That did the trick. The full interactivity option is the default on our version.
From what I can tell, the user must do this each time they run the report. It seems like this would be a common request for most "grid" type reports. Having created some content in other browser-based applications, freezing column headings is an afterthought - it's the default.
Or is this something that typical Cognos content just doesn't encounter?
Thanks again!

Hi Greg,
there's a way to force the report to run in the classic viewer which supports freezing of rows & columns. You have to deactivate the full interactivity of the report. Select "Report" in the trailing menu und then deactive the option in the properties pane.
Run the report and right-click on the headings and freeze the rows/columns.
Keep in mind that the classic viewer deactivates also some features like custom controls and the latest visualization types as they depend on using the full interactivity.

I am VERY new to Cognos - migrating from DB2 Web Query. I'm having a rough time recreating some of our existing reports. I have created a crosstab report that has two "heading" rows and two "heading" columns. I would like to freeze these in HTML much like you can freeze in Excel.
I cannot find a way to do this. Driving me insane.
TIA
Greg
