  • 1.  FM: aggregate on attribute

    Posted Mon September 13, 2021 07:00 AM
Not sure if this is a bug, or I'm using it in an unintended way - my guess is it is a bug.
    In Framework manager:
I have a date attribute in a query subject (relational model). I want to show the minimum value, but when I set the regular aggregate to minimum, It isn't applied. I have tried with setting usage to attribute and identifier.
I'm on 11.1.7 latest fixpack (applied in august maintenance window).

When published package is used in a report, no aggregate is set:

    So, shouldn't this be possible?
I can of course write it as an expression, but want to use built in functions and use it as intended.

    Sandeep Dhirad – a question:

    1.    Is your model Relational or DMR?

Why I ask is I believe the aggregate only works on measures that are related to dimensional objects.

It is Relational. DMR doesn't support attributes in measure dimension :)

I agree with Peter and in order to use this field and have it aggregate with a Min function it would need to be a measure, Usage would need to be Fact, in the model. you may need to have it in the model twice, once as an Attribute to use as a date in order to filter, group, sort and as a Fact, possibly named 'Minimum <name> Date' to use as the aggregated value,

Thank you to both, for clarifying. My assumption was wrong :)
I solved it by writing an expression instead of using built in functionality: minimum([Field]).
