  • 1.  FlashSystem FC port connect VMware satate port offline

    Hi,

        I have issue about FS 5000 Series FC port on GUI sate is offline, VMware state is disconnected, This issue can resolve? Please help me for issue.

    is it direct attach or connected via san switches?

    Hello Apidesh,

    I am having the same issue, did you manage to fix your issue.

    I defined VMware hosts in the FS7300, and I am sure that I zoned them correctly. The WWPNs of the VMware hosts even appearing when I am creating the host definition using the FS7300 Management GUI.

    But as soon the creation of the host definition completed, the ports showing offline status of the VMware hosts.

    I just want to make sure... are you connecting to the physical port or the virtual port?

     

    Storage Virtualize defaults to using NPIV, so you can only present the virtual ports to the hosts. The other ports still exist but can't be used.

    Hello Ian,

     

    Thank you for responding.

     

    I was able to discover that the FC ports were blocked because I was using the Physical WWPNs of the IBM Flashsystem 7300 instead of the Virtual WWPNs.

     

    It is now online and working.
