    Hello, I'm having issue managing the drives in a All Flash Storage Array type FlashSystem 5035. I have upgraded the system to the latest firmware 8.6.0. now when attempting to upgrade the drive firmware I get failures  -

    " Drive initialisation failed due to wrong PI type"   

    "Error Code  - 1206     Error Code Text - Drive Format Incorrect""

    The drives are able to be changed to "Candidate" mode but quickly change to "Degraded" and then "Offline" automatically. 

    Are these drives corrupted or did I miss a formatting step ? 

    system : 2072-3N4  : system firmware 8.6.0  

    drives :  AL6B  2.4TB 10K 12Gb HDD : drive firmwares  B5C9 and B5CB. attempting to upgrade to firmware B5CD.

    Hola Randy!

    Did you try what the documentation recommends for this error message?  Make sure the drive is not part of any array in order to format it. I'd say the sequence should be

    chdrive -use unused <drive id>

    chdrive -task format <drive id>
