We have a client for whom we will be doing a migration and firmware upgrade. I just had a question regarding the firmware upgrade path from 7.6 to 10.0

Reading this support note, I see that "To be able to upgrade to V10.0.0.x fix pack releases from any earlier major firmware releases (such as 7.6.x or 2018.4.1.x) it is required to upgrade to the V10.0.0.0 level first." highlighted in bold.

However, while perusing the fix packs in Fix Pack central (I understand the v10.0.0.0 FW image must be downloaded from Password Advantage) I saw that the fix pack can be applied to v2018.4.1 which seems to contradict the previous statement in bold if I have understood that correctly.

• You can directly upgrade from 7.6 to 10.0.
• The statement that confuses you might be due to that at the time 10.0 got released, the only supported other firmware version at that point in time was 2018.4.1 and official notes statements typically are only made for currently supported releases, as only those are relevant for compatibility testing reports at time of new release.
• 10.0.0.0 is put protected on Passport Advantage to ensure only customers with a current support entitlement can leverage the new release.
• For 10.0.0.1, I feel to understand that that support entitlement verification check is now also implemented in Fix Central for DataPower and so the fixpack can be downloaded there, given your IBMid is associated with a currently entitled customer account.
• These support entitlement verification checks in Fix Central are around for various products for a couple of years already, and now also enforced for DataPower.
• Per my understanding, the supported upgrade path is 7.6.0.x > 10.0.0.0 > 10.0.0.y, but I will doublecheck with a colleague.
