  • 1.  Federated Repositories is not connecting to my LDAP

    Posted Thu June 02, 2011 06:35 PM
    Hello,

We just installed websphere application server and we are performing the following steps:

    1. Verify that users in the LDAP directory have been successfully added to the repository:

      1. From the WebSphere Application Server Integrated Solutions Console, select Users and Groups -> Manage Users

    1.

      1. In the Search by field, enter a user name that you know to be in the LDAP directory, I chose b9camp, and click Search.

My search is not showing any results...

Do you have any answer for this ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Sunny :-)

Are you trying used a combined Federated Repository and LDAP, or just LDAP, for user authentication?

If you are using LDAP for the authentication, users can be added via "Users and groups -> Administrative user roles".  Make sure your LDAP configuration is correctly connected by reviewing your settings in "Security -> Global security".

Finally, you can use wild cards for your search in LDAP such as *b9camp* and see if you have luck that way.

    Hi Erick,

Thank so much for your answer, I have a few comments...

If we have an LDAP, the Websphere is supposed to bring the data from the LDAP when I do a search in Websphere. I'm not supposed to enter all my users manually on websphere if I have them on my LDAP, wich is a Microsoft Windows Active Directory ...

Let me show show you with more detail the problem...

Can you clarify a bit more?  Your fisrst post indicates that you're try to search for users in LDAP via the Manage Users, but your last post indicates you shouldn't add all the users to WebSphere...  Please calrify the intent of your actions.

Your last comment about "I'm not supposed to enter all my users manually on websphere if I have them on my LDAP, wich is a Microsoft Windows Active Directory" leads me to believe that your understanding is that if a user exists in A/D then they should have access to the WebSphere Console.  Correct?  Are the users part of a group?

Erick, we are installing Lotus Connections 3.01, and one of the pre-requisites for start the installation is:

Setting up Federated Respositories, if yo go to the LC3.01 install instructions you will see the following:

    www-10.lotus.com/ldd/lcwiki.nsf/dx/Setti...

After doing that (Setting up Federated Respositories) the install guide ask me to try search an user vfrom LDAP ia:

Users and Groups >> Manage Users

    And this is not working...
