  • 1.  FC5200 Initial configuration

    Hi

     I connect first time to technician port and finish  configure the cluster IP  address of the FS5200

    Before I start to Initial configuration the customer want to change the cluster IP Address

    How I can change it before I start the Initial configuration ?

    go to settings > network > management ip addresses and change it

    I know to change it on the GUI after I finish the  Initial configuration

    I want to do it before I start the  Initial configuration

    Hi Moshe,

    There is no System IP before initial configuration.  The very first proper configuration command you run is mkcluster (or create system) and that accepts the system IP as a required parameter.

    As I mentioned before, you cannot edit the technician port IP, that is a fixed local/point to point IP.

    You can at any time change the serviceip of a node using the Service Assistant GUI or the service CLI.



    So there are 2 times/places you can configure the System IP or cluster IP.

    1: at cluster creation (which is system initialization workflow)
    2: at any point after cluster creation using the change management IP workflow or the chsystemip command line.

    In the GUI you select the node or node canister you want to edit based on it's name or panel id, and go to the Change Service IP panel or menu item (dependent on the version of code in use the flow differs).

    I think I understand what you mean, if you connect to the storage with service IP
    192.168.70.121
    you enter service mode and change the IP settings of the controllers

    The Node doesn't have to be in service state (sevice mode wasn't a thing since 5.1.0) in order to change the serviceIP.  This can be done at any node non-offline state (active in cluster, service state or candidate).

    To be clear:   You DO NOT enter service mode.

    Just log in to the service IP and change the IP using chserviceip or using the service GUI.

    he wants to change the service IP before creating the cluster, then he can enter the default service IP and make this change, that's what I understood

    Since V8.6.0.x, you can change node service IP addresses directly in the management GUI, no need to enter Service Assistant GUI any longer. 

    That said, there is no need to log on with superuser any longer. Besides that, CLI chserviceip was made available as regular (svctask) command as well, Service Assistant CLI satask chserviceip is still available as well, of course.
