  • 1.  Event Studio CNC-DS-0008 No output available Error

    We have recently upgraded from Cognos 10.2.1 to Cognos Analytics 11.1 R4

    We have an Event Studio Report which is scheduled and run fine in Cognos 10.2.1.

    This Event Studio Report runs a Report Studio Report in PDF format and send an e-mail with this PDF report output as an attachment.

    We migrated this Event Studio Report to Cognos Analytics 11.1 R4.
    When this Event Studio Report is triggered through a schedule in Cognos Analytics 11.1 R4, it does not generate the PDF output and the e-mail that is sent has a HTML attachment instead of PDF Report output.
    This HTML attachment contains the Error: "CNC-DS-0008 No output available Error"

    Can someone please help us on this issue.

    Hi Peter,

    Thank you for providing this link.

    We are not bursting the report, however we had a data-item which was used to pass the e-mail addresses.
    We removed the data item and wrote all the e-mail addresses in the 'To' section of the email task.

    Even this it did not resolve the issue, still getting the "CNC-DS-0008 No output available" Error

    I think I had to recreate some of my events after upgrading. The "No output available Error" may be because the PDF is not being generated. Have you tried to recreate the event?

    I re-created the Run a Report Task and E-mail task that were inside the event.

    But, still getting the same "CNC-DS-0008 No output available" Error.

    You may be hitting APAR 148061. (or maybe a variant of it)

    Can you try scheduling the Agent via Event Studio?

    Hi Ravin,  we have developed a small tool with which triggers can be fired based on any event. Then it is possible to start jobs or reports via the schedule (and of course to create a PDF document).
    The advantage: It is then all within the standard functionalities - just like the schedule:

    I think the next step I would take is to see if I can get the report to generate without sending the email. Can you get the report to run and save in Cognos without sending the email? 

    Steps I would take:
    1. Recreate the event (tried).
    2. Remove steps of the event to see what will work and what won't.
        A. Remove email part of event. Does report run?
        B. Replace report with a different report. Does the report run? Does the email work?

    Hopefully one of those suggestions will work.

    Your suggestions helped.

    I deleted and re-created the whole event and deleted and re-created the schedule too.

    It worked.

    Now I am getting PDF report output as attachment in e-mail.
