I'm fairly new using Event Studio.
I pulled in my package but I have two tables (trend current day balance and trend prior day balance) I need to use.  These tables are NOT joined in the package.  I need to calculate the difference in balances.  Can sql code/joins be created in Event Studio?  I have the 'report' created in report studio that has the joins applied, however, I don't see that you can use a 'report' in Event Studio… or can you?

    Thanks for the assistance.

Hi @Jenifer Broughton, as far as I can tell, you can only use packages (though those could be either relational or dimensional). It seems that IBM did not improve anything in Event Studio in Cognos 11, as it is under the Companion Applications (legacy) and using the old front end.

You can do some basic editing/linking by adding fields from the package to the Insertable Objects and then editing them. The editor uses the same functions are reporting. The best would be of course, if you could edit the package in Framework Manager to your liking. My team has even created an admin package solely for the objective of triggering reporting jobs in an automated fashion. That is actually a trick we use often: the reports/jobs, etc. you run using Event Studio can be based off of different packages.  Meaning, if you cannot edit the package that is used for the report you need to run in the event, you might be able to create a new package for the event only.

The only thing to be careful about is the task execution rules. Not well defined events can create some serious spamming, which might amuse or anger some.... (not that I have ever done anything like that :0)))))

    Good luck!

    Hi Adrienne,

Thanks for this reply.  I don't have admin access to the package, my work around was to create a View that contained the 'trigger' I used in Event Studio.  Another question for you, I have been trying to get the 'approval notification' to work but no luck.
All I get under 'notifications' is a blub that tells me the Type of notice, the status and the owner.  There is no option to approve or reject?
    Any ideas?

Thanks so much for your reply!  It is greatly appreciated.
