  • 1.  Error when I use a FM package as source on a Dashboard

    Posted Mon June 10, 2019 09:05 AM

    Hi there,

I need to solve a problem when I create a Cognos Dashboard from FM package.
I create my FM model with DB2 sources, and then I publish a package.
When I use this package and I try to create a Dashboard from this, appear this error into the log file "p2pd_messages " ->  MSR-GEN-0001 Internal error
My Cognos version is Analytics 11.0.5

What's necessary to do to solve this error?

    Any idea?

    Thanks a lot :)

I'm sorry to learn that you have encountered this problem.

Here is a mini-checklist of things that could help troubleshooting. Not all of them are necessarily as relevant as others but they might help delineate the areas of the problem.

    1. Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'use' please. Are you able to see the metadata tree?  Does the problem happen when you try to create widget on the dashboard? Are there cases where something in the package is usable?
    2. Can you use the package in report studio?
    3. Usually there will be text just after messages such as that plus a call stack. The message can be, at times, helpful for understanding the problem.   In addition there might be a relevant message in the xqe log file, which is located in the xqe directory in the logs directory.
    4. Is this CQM or DQM?
    5. Is this package DMR (dimensionally-modelled relational) or just relational?
    6.  If you test objects in the package in FM, do you encounter errors?

I don't know if this will apply as the error message you are reporting is different, but...
For packages used by dashboards, not all FM package settings (or types) are supported. For an FM package to be used by Dashboards a package must be a relational package that is set as either a dynamic query mode or compatible query mode package.  If the package is a compatible query mode, then there must be a JDBC connection defined.  The package can also be a dimensional package, but I'm guessing that the package being used is the relational, compatible query mode package.

Also, when applying the applying the JDBC connection string, you may need to remove all white spaces.
