All of a sudden I have an important LPAR and emgr operations are taking a very long time.  This AIX 7.2 TL5 SP7 LPAR is large 4TB 40 core and only 15 to 20% load.  I don't see any reason for it sudden take an hour to remove a fix.  I updated a package set very quick.  Then applied the new fix for that package set and it is again taking an hour+ to apply this fix.  I have not seen this behavior on any of the other systems.  Any ideas?

Please mention the package name and the level of the package that you updated.

What I might do if I had these more than one hour operations  emgr symptoms:

1. Open a CASE at IBM (and send enough info comparing this strange behaviour with analogous LPAR that does not have the "emgr performance problem".
2.  if the command is run by root you can trace down with "watch" command capturing standard output and standard error  descriptors.  These outputs could be also be compared and maybe you'll be able to find who is locking or how is this actually behaving or why is this happening. (this output might also help IBM L2 or L3 support).
