This is a question that was asked during the February 15 Lab Chat on WODM:

Does the Designer use CVS for versioning or is it purely on Decision Center?

The Rule and Event Designer does support the use of CVS and other SCM tools that provide an Eclipse interface.  The Rule and Event projects can also be connected to Decision Center and its repository.

The choice between these two options (or a possible hybrid) is important as the source of turth for decisions must be defined for your organization:

    1. An IT centric source of truth is the SCM repository and then changes made in Decision Center must be brought down to the Designer, versioned in the SCM repository and deployed to the runtime by IT.

    2. A preferred and business centered choice is to make the Decision Center repository the source of truth and then any changes in Designer workspaces must be pubished and versioned in the Decision Center repository.  In addition, this allows deployment from Decision Center where business users can be involved.

No matter which method is chosen, it is important the governance process is defined and the source of truth for decisions specified for your organization.
