  • 1.  Does applying the license remove the memory limit?

    Posted 06/19/23 10:41 PM

    Hello community,

There is one instance online with no licenses registered.

Does adding an enterprise or higher license with db2licm remove the memory limit (16 GB) without restarting the instance?

It's hard to find documentation explaining this. Thanks,

Adding an enterprise or higher license with the db2licm command does not automatically remove the memory limit for an instance without restarting the instance. Well the license upgrade itself does not directly affect the current memory configuration of the instance.
To remove the memory limit and utilize more than the default 16 GB of memory, you would typically need to adjust the memory configuration parameters and then restart the Db2 instance. As far as i know it's the DATABASE_MEMORY or INSTANCE_MEMORY that controls the overall memory allocation for the instance or individual databases.
