Thank you Ana! This really helped.
We were able to successfully use a sig option to filter WOs in a WO map layer (in Desktop/Spatial).
Unfortunately though, if we try the same thing in the map manager for Anywhere, Anywhere does not seem to honour the setting/sig option.
All of the WO points are visible in the WO layer in Anywhere, despite the checkbox being checked and a sig option being applied.

This restriction can be applied by layer. Then before displaying a layer over the map, the system checks:
1) if the map feature is linked to any Maximo record. Features not linked will not be displayed.
2) if the user has access to the linked Maximo record. The access restriction can be determined by site or any other access restriction configured on security groups.

The docs for Maximo Spatial 7.6.1 say:
"Select Only display map features linked to Maximo record the user has access to display features that the user is authorized to view."
See section 11-f:
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSG2D3_7.6.1/com.ibm.spl.doc/plussmngr/t_create_config_map.html
What determines the features that the user is authorized to view? Site? Sig option?
Can the criteria be defined for the specific WO layer? Or does it need to apply to all of Maximo?
