  • 1.  Difference between standard and premium option

    Good morning,

    My trial period is ending today and I am looking to pay for the version that suits me best, but I have doubts. I see this chart but it is not clear to me. Could you give me more information, what is really the difference between the 2? Cognos Analytics - Pricing 


    Why when I go to subscribe, I get a 3 option, the "plus" option?

    I don't know if it's worth the $40.

    If I want a desktop version, what should I buy and where?

    Hi,

    This is for the on-demand version of Cognos Analytics on Cloud, right?

    The Standard subscription only really provides the ability to create and use dashboards and stories. If you are just creating dashboards, this subscription level would suit. The Plus subscription level adds data exploration capabilities, so if you want to be able to use the Explore feature to explore your data as well as creating and using dashboards and stories, this would be the one to go for. The Premium subscription level adds reporting capabilities on top of this (so you get both Explore and Reporting). If you want to create and use Reports using the Reporting feature, you'll need the Premium subscription.

    I actually thought the Plus level subscription had been retired, so it's interesting to see it's still an option you can select.

    Cognos Analytics is a browser-based solution, so there really isn't a desktop option available.

    It is quite strange to still have the 3rd tier because you can read the following in the documentation:
    "In 11.2.0 and earlier versions, this offering has three tiers: Standard, Plus, and Premium. In 11.2.1, only Standard and Premium tiers are available for purchasing; however, the Plus tier is still supported for users who purchased it earlier."
