  • 1.  Default Report Object Structue in an Application

    Posted Tue February 13, 2024 11:43 AM

In Work Order Tracking we have several report object structures available.  Would like to change the default to one of the other choices, anyone know how?

I tried the QBR (Ad Hoc) Reporting and Report Object Structures - Revision 3 manual and searching but found nothing.

    Brian -

Hi.  On page 17 of the Ad Hoc Reporting guide you reference above it notes

    2.3.1 Parent Category
The Parent Category enables a user to select from any number of report object structures (ROS) associated to an application (app). Parent Category is another term for Report Object Structure (ROS).  When the user enters the Select Tab, a parent category displays depending on these conditions
      (1) If no ROS are defined for an app, the parent category will display as 'Application Name' Detail
      (2) If only ROS is defined for an app, the single ROS will be the default value
      (3) If multiple ROS are defined for an app, the user may first see any of the ROS defined. The ability to select a default or define the order of ROS displayed is not currently available.

This document was written for Maximo 76 functionality - and I don't believe any updates were added thru the Maximo 7.6.1.3 release.  I checked the latest MAS 8.11 release - and also do not see the ability to set the default ROS for an application in there.

There is an open 'Idea' (previously request for enhancement) for this feature here which was logged in December 2021 - and noted for 'Future Consideration'.  You can view the idea here - and vote on it so to help increase its visibility.

    Thank you!

    Thanks Pam!

Looks like I needed to update my reporting doc version.  I will also vote that idea up.

    Hi Brian,

Hope I understood your question correctly.

I noticed that the order of the QBR (Ad Hoc) reports in any application is as per the alphabetical order of the name (not the description) of the report object structure. If you would like to default one of your other choices, have you tried duplicating the report and renaming it so that it is first alphabetically. For instance, you could rename it to REP_1WORKORDER.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    PK

    Thanks PK,

I tried renaming some report object structures starting with 'A' but that didn't change the default.  From looking at the database table the structure with the lowest value in the field maxintobjectid seems to be the default on the 4 applications I looked at, but will have to see if anything else would be affected by editing that.
