DB2 Mirror for i – Configuration and Recovery Strategy for QBATCH Batch Jobs

  • 1.  DB2 Mirror for i – Configuration and Recovery Strategy for QBATCH Batch Jobs

    Posted 23 days ago

I would like to seek clarification and guidance regarding the configuration of QBATCH in a DB2 Mirror for i environment, particularly in the context of running and recovering batch jobs during a node switch.

    Specifically:

    1. How should QBATCH be configured in a DB2 Mirror for i setup to ensure high availability of batch processing?
Is there a recommended approach to ensure job queues like QBATCH are mirrored or made consistently available across both nodes?

    2. If a batch job is submitted on one node (e.g., Node A) and a planned or unplanned switch to the other node (e.g., Node B) occurs while the job is still running, how should recovery be handled?

      • Will the job resume automatically on the new active node?

      • Or should the job be designed with restart/recovery logic?

      • Are there best practices or automation mechanisms recommended to detect and re-submit such jobs post-failover?
