  • 1.  DataStage RTC integration

    ​Hi,

    We're looking for an ETL solution in order to use it with Cognos 11.1.  Actually we have IBM Data Manager and Framework Manager, but Data Manager is already deprecated so we need to find another solution. The issue here is that we need to Access Rational Team Concert as a datasource, and we are not able to find any info about it in the IBM website. Does anybody know if IBM Infosphere DataStage supports RTC direct connection?

    I reached out to another team within IBM to see if they have some information to share. I'll update when I hear back.
    Are you using DataStage Workgroup that replaced Data Manager?

    Thanks for your quick response. I found it useful but I think its purpose is different from what we need, I'll explain: the link you provided is for using RTC as a repository for DataStage, what we need is to use RTC as a source for extracting information.

    The basics of our process would be:

     - In our company, RTC is used as a tool for project management, we have different project areas and workitems.
     - We use Rational Insight XML Data Configuration tool for creating the xdc templates that map those RTC project areas and workitems.
     - Then we create ODBC access (IBM Rational XML ODBC Driver) using the xdc template.
     - In DataManager we add the ODBC connection so we can use it to extract and transform the RTC information we need.
     
    We are currently using DataManager and wish to migrate our ETL processes to DataStage (we're actually evaluating acquiring Infosphere Information license), but we need it to be able to extract information from Rational Team Concert, and we haven't found a clear reference stating that this is possible or how it is done.

    So, what we need is to know if we can access RTC as a data source, preferably using the aforementioned ODBD connection, for extracting information using DataStage.
