    Hi,

    I face a problem when creating a data module in Cognos Analytics 11.0.9. None of uploaded files/data modules are available when selecting sources. It appears "Empty" under upload files/ data modules pane. However, packages are shown and can be selected.

    And I am able to create a dashboard by using uploaded files.

    I also checked that I have permission to create data module and upload files.

    Can anyone please help.

    @Learner Cognos - Most likely an issue with indexing. You can recreate the indexes by following the below steps:

    • Stop the Cognos Service
    • Go to: <install location> \ data \ search \ indices
    • Backup the folders and files then delete the contents of the Indices folder
    • Start the Cognos service back up

    I would suggest logging a support case. Our support team will most likely need to go through the steps on fixing the index service.
    You can log a support case here

    Also, when you try to use the search functionality, do any results get returned?

    Hi, sorry for late reply. I have just tried to search uploaded excels/sample data modules, but they do not appear in the result.

    I think I will find IBM support to seek help from them. Thanks for your help!

    My first comment is that 11.0.9 is an old release and it would be advisable to upgrade to a more current release.  Data Modules has matured a lot and may help with a more current version.  It is certainly odd that you can create a Dashboard from this uploaded file but not create a data module.  What format is the uploaded file (CSV or XLS)?

    Hi, thanks a lot. I know that upgrading is a good way but it is not my call.. 

    I have tried CSV/XLS/XLSX. Actually it is quite strange, there are Cognos official data module/excel samples in team content but they do not appear in data module sources.

    I deleted the indexes as I found in a technical note, but it still doesn't work.
    Could you fix it?
