If the table contains the column you are filtering on COGNOS only highlights the data in the table not filters it. (Very annoying). So for example your pie slice is report name, and the table also has report name as a column, COGNOS will ONLY HIGHLIGHT all rows with the same report name in them and not filter them. If you were to remove report name as a field from the table, filtering should work as expected.

I'm glad we've been able to deduce that filtering is working. Now the challenge is to figure out why data appears to be 'sliced out' when you make selections on visualizations instead of brushing.
I believe the best approach would be to log a case with IBM Support. One of our Support Analysts can review your data to identify whether data being 'sliced out' is the correct behaviour given the relationships defined in your source data. And if it happens to be a defect, they can send the issue to my team. You're welcome to mention my name as willing to help if the Support Analyst is uncertain about anything.
Hope this helps.

Brennan,
Thanks for looking at this. Yes, when I click on the pie slice the filter is updated. I already have a couple tab and dashboard level filters reflected in it. There is also a column chart that does update when I click on the pie slice as well. It is actually data coming from audit, run report and user logon, tables. Now that you mentioned to check the filter updates, I do see the filter is updated on the table visualization as well. Only, the data itself isn't filtered. Very strange.

Hi Robert, thank you for your question.
From your description, I understand that you are looking to select a 'slice' on your Pie visualization and have the data that is projected on your Pie be highlighted on your Table visualization. Am I correctly understanding the outcome you are looking to achieve?
I would need some more context to say for sure, but I suspect this may be due to the nature of the relationship between the data projected on the two visualizations. When you are able, would you please address the following questions to provide some questions?:
- When you select the slice(s) on your Pie, does a filter indicator appear in the top right corner of your Table visualization?
- Are the visualizations created from data that resides in two separate tables?
- Are you able describe the relationship between the tables (eg. inner join, one-to-many, no direct relationship but are connected via a join with another table etc)?
- Are you experiencing this with all your data? Or with any other visualization types you have created so far?
For clarity, my use of "Table" (with a capital 'T') refers to the Table visualization type in dashboards. My use of "table" (with a lowercase 't') refers to data tables in your source file(s), such as the different sheets in a multi-sheet Excel file.

I've created a dashboard with a pie chart and table of the details summarized in the pie chart. I can confirm they are connected yet when I click on a pie slice the table does not filter. It does work the other way where I click on a row in the table and the pie filters to that single record which isn't quite what I was going for. Is this a known issue with the table widget?
