Does anyone know if it is possible to add new icons under the "Individual tab properties in C11.2.1 dashboards. There must be a way of doing this but I cant find any documentation anywhere. I was able to add custom shapes using an extension so wondering if anyone has done this for tab icons??

They are not customizable, no. If that is something you'd like to see in a future release, feel free to create an Idea in Aha and our team will take it under consideration for future enhancements.

In the meantime, I thought I would mention that the tab names are text fields that support unicode characters. If there is any unicode emoji (click here for a full list) that would be comparable to the custom icon(s) you wish to use, then you could copy & paste them into your tab name (see attached for an example). Check the matrix on the Unicode Consortium site I linked to ensure the browser you're using will render the emoji before using them.

Are there any other features of tabs you'd want to be able to change? I'm thinking better border control.

The hard part for me will be figuring out how to get the property sheet on the widget to dynamically list all of the tab names. I might have to resort to having the user simply drag in another css widget for each tab they want to style.

However, I like your second example, being able to change borders, shape etc. is cool and I would use that if it was available in Cogbox. We are using 11.2.0 and I have previously downloaded Cogbox but it doesnt work. Is it version specific and do yo guys release backward compatible versions? Some additional thoughts whilst I have your attention:

1) It would be very useful to be able to have tooltips / coachmarks sitting in the dashboard. I know you can download an extension to drag in data items into fields section and that's great but it's quite limited. I want to display the business logic / provide further explanation on specific metrics and so on. You can easily do this in reporting as we have so much more control and tools available. I did download the "Learn Pane Link Widget" from the accelerator catalogue which I thought would cover this but I have no idea how you would use it in this context. Maybe one of the Cogbox.

2) Widget connections are very limited. It would be amazing to have multiple connects per object i.e. chart 1 is connected to chart 2 + 3 but chart 4 can connect to 1,2,3 + chart 5. I would love to see this in the core product but maybe Cogbox can come to the rescue.

I haven't tested in 11.0, but everything should be backwards compatible. I test everything periodically in both 11.1 and 11.2. Are you getting JS errors? What isn't working? Are you on the IBM cloud? I've seen reports of issues with CogBox on it, but I don't have direct access to an instance to do testing. My guess is that Cognos isn't correctly unpacking the archive and a simple restart will fix it. 

I can absolutely add a coachmark/info widget, and I've already created extensions to add items to the icons list:

I need to look into adding data item support for it though, but straight text should be fine. 

For styling the tabs I haven't been able to uncover how IBM dynamically lists the tabs in the property sheet. So what I'm thinking is to add another item to the CSS widget for tabs, it would have an input box for you to select the tab number you want, and all of the styles would effect that particular tab. Simply drag in another CSS widget for each tab you want to style.

I think I've uncovered how dashboards handle connections, but I'm not sure I can override it without potentially breaking things. I'm pretty sure I can hook into it, so I could trigger it with JS, but overriding existing connections is beyond me at the moment.
