The CPI-C for Java support that comes with the Communications Server for Data Center Deployment allows one to make LU6.2 transaction from a Java program. This is widely used on Web Server applications that interface with CICS and IMS for transactions. A new CPI-C for Rust development guide is available that provides similar API support for Rust applications.
Included in the development guide are two Rust applications. One issues "aping" messages (APPC ping, call RUSTAPING) and the second is RUST_TP that receives and echos the messages back. These tools can be useful to testing APPC connectivity in a network. Written in Rust, these would be less vulnerable to memory management issues and just as efficient as the C written "aping", "apingd" tools that come with the product (see the APPC Programmers Suite Guide for more information about APING).
