  • 1.  Copy Service Manager

    Hi, The REdbook of Copy Service Manager says CSM is part of IBM Smart Cloud Virtual Storage Center , please confirm this statement.

    So do We need to add CSM License separately if there is already VSC 5608-ACL is present ??Please advise/comment

    The statement is correct.  CSM is entitled unter Spectrum Control Advanced Edition. If a Spectrum Control customer wants to use CSM they do not need to purchase CSM separately. They can download the CSM installer from Fix Central and then find the enablement files under the eAssembly for Spectrum Control in Passport Advantage.  You can see these download instructions on the CSM download pages for each release in the Download new installation table (example:  https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6333057 )

    Note that this does not include enclosure based versions of Spectrum Control nor their SAAS offering Storage Insights.

    It was indeed helpful. Just clarify that by the statement "that this does not include enclosure based versions of Spectrum Control nor their SAAS offering Storage Insights."

    This means CSM is included only in the VSC offering that is with capacity based licenses? right?

    It is included in all of the Spectrum Control Advanced Edition offerings.  Since VSC entitles Spectrum Control Advanced Edition and Spectrum Control entitles CSM.  CSM is entitled under VSC.  The enclosure based offering I was referring to was the Spectrum Control Select Edition.  CSM is not entitled under that, nor Storage Insights.
