Hi Andrei,
if you have the appropriate rights in Cognos, you have to go to "Manage" in the hamburger menu:

Then hit "Data server connections":

A new UI will open where you can add net data servers. Choose the MS SQL connection type, hit "Next" and enter all connection details for your server.

Hi, try to use Microsoft SQL Server (ODBC). also please save on (C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\analytics\drivers) the sqljdbc42.jar file. Then fill in the JDBC as shown bellow.

Subject: Connecting to Microsoft SQL server
Hello everybody,
I have an issue creating a new Data Source using Microsoft SQL Server. I have found some tutorials that tell to copy JDBC to certain Cognos folder. I am only using the Cognos Analytics in browser though.
The server itself is on my own machine and I am not sure I am using the right JDBC URL.
Is anybody able to help me with my issue?
Thank you very much!
