Hi,

I have successfully used the Compound Document technique to have a single spreadsheet with 6 different reports, each in a different sheet.

The problem is that each sheet is named the same as the spreadsheet name with (1), (2) etc. as the suffix. I need to distribute the spreadsheet so that it's clear what each sheet contains. The example I followed was from an article by Gene Cobb where it looked like the sheets were named appropriately with no extra effort:

You can change the name of each report in the document, then when the document is run, the name of the report will be the name of the sheet.

You can change the name of a report as follows:

1. Open the report in InfoAssist.
2. In the query panel, right click on 'Report' and click 'Rename'.
3. Enter the title for your report and click 'OK'.

Thanks very much for your response. I might be wrong but maybe this is the issue. For me, the query panel is blank. I would attach a screen shot but I'm not sure if this is possible within the forum.

Are you looking at the query panel in the document (that contains all the reports)? Or the query panel in one of the reports used in the document?

If your document is made up of existing reports, the query panel in the document will be blank. You will need to edit each of the existing reports by opening them in InfoAssist and changing the name as described.

Hi Ann,

I'm looking at the query panel in the document, not in the individual reports. In fact within InfoAssist I can't see any mention of the reports within the document. I only know they're there by looking in the TextEditor.

Is there something I can do directly in the TextEditor?

You will need to look at the query panel for the individual reports, NOT the document. Changing the name in the query panel of an individual report will cause that name to show up on the sheets when the document is run.

That is, you must edit each individual report by opening it in InfoAssist, right clicking on 'Report' in the query panel, clicking 'Rename', then entering the title for your report and clicking 'OK'. Once you have done this for all of the reports used in the document, when you run the document the sheets will be named as expected.
