I am inserting data into a table from a query built in report studio by drag and drop. whenever I try to drag the data item from the query to the table on the page it creates a singleton object and hence populating a single value. What should I do in these cases? How do I get the information for all the values instead of a single value?

It sounds like your table does not have any containers in it, like a List, Crosstab, Chart, etc..., so it will create a container for the measure... a singleton.
You should insert a List or Crosstab into your Table and then drop the items into the container.
