I need to create a report to capture the number of reports run by month.

I've created such a report in the past, but not sure if I recall correctly how to use the COGIPF_TARGET_TYPE.  When I run a report for this column the values returned are:

    Report type
    Report promptback reportservice
    Report promptforward reportservice
    Reportview promptback reportservice
    Analysis batchreportservice
    Analysis reportservice
    Query promptforward reportservice
    Report batchreportservice
    Exploration queryservice
    Query reportservice
    Reportview promptforward reportservice
    Reportview reportservice
    Analysis promptforward reportservice
    Query batchreportservice
    Report reportservice
    Reportview batchreportservice

Can someone suggest how/if I should filter so the report isn't overstated?  I seem to recall that if running the report and not filtering appropriately the data returned may multiple records for a single report run.

So, for example, a reportname may include a record for Report reportservice and Report promptforward reportservice with the timestamp just a few seconds apart on the same day.

Any assistance in how to create an audit report on reports that have been run and the best way to handle the report types would be appreciated.

    Hi Betina,

Can you please first confirm which Cognos version you are using currently?
This is to let you know there are audit DB known issues that might not give you the correct data.

Sorry I forgot to include that!  Cognos Analytics 11.0.10.  The numbers that are coming back seem to be higher than we expected.

    Hi Betina

For reports u must only use the values, beginning with report or reportview
The (report or Reportview) reportservice is when a report is run by a user
the report batchreportservice is not important, as far as i know
the (report or Reportview) prompt...... is a action within a report, when someone already has a report open
