  • 1.  Cognos 11.1 Barchart Sort By different Data Items

    Hi All,

    In Older version, I should be able to sort the bar by different data items in the query rather than the description of the bar. In 11.1, it looks like there's no option to sort as in previous version and is there any way to achieve it in 11.1 please? It is really really annoying and unbelievable that we upgraded to 11.1 and can't use the latest version of Viz.

    Below is in 11.1 Viz and there's only option for Ascending or Descending.

    Below is in 11.0 Viz and it pops out windows to choose different data items in the query.

    With 11.1 are a new type of interactive charts that render client side and include the data for farther filtering if the chart is defined with the Extra Data items. If you want the older Rave chart then when you insert a chart make sure you select the 11.0 visualization.

    Also I am curious why you would sort on something that is not even part of the display, how would that provide any value? 
    Given that some data does not sort as expected you could always use the metadata properties and define a sort option.
